"Exciting and Suspensful - Great Shounen"

During the summer of 2006 I was at the library and picked up the first volume of Bleach. "Huh," I thought to myself. "I've heard this is good." And it all started from there. The second you are introduced to the enticing plot of Bleach, you can never stop watching and you can never go back.

Kurosaki Ichigo is a fifteen year old high school student at Karakura High School. He has always had the ability to see and talk to ghosts, but when a monster type of spirit that he had never seen before comes to attack his family, his life changes drastically. He meets Kuchicki Rukia, a "Shinigami," whose purpose is to travel to earth from Soul Society in order to slay the monster spirits, called Hollows. When trying to save his little sister, Rukia becomes injured and unable to fight. In order to slay the Hollow, Rukia thrusts her sword into Ichigo to temorarily give him Shinigami powers. However, after Ichigo successfully defeats the Hollow, he had absorbed all of Rukia's power and left her with none.

This anime is a good, solid fighting Shounen, but with more depth and complexity than most others. Unlike anime like Naruto and One Piece, the fights rarely drag out over more than two episodes, and its very unlikely that you will become uninterested or bored. I gave this anime 10s across the board, because unlike others Bleach definitely delivers. There are so many aspects that no matter what you're looking for, it will be there. Looking for action? Its there. Looking for paranormal? It's there. Looking for humor? Its there. Looking for huge knockers? Well, hey, I'm a girl but if you're a guy and you're looking for that, that's there, too.

In addition, the more techinical aspects are also really great. The music for opening and ending songs is by high end and mainstream bands, such as UVERworld, Orange Range, HIGH and MIGTHY color, Oreska Band, Yui, and many others. The background songs are also quirky and catchy, and definitely some you'll never forget. The animation is never awkward, and the facial expressions and movements of the characters are smooth, fluid, and realistic. This is definitely a top-quality anime.

Thank you for reading.
